The Montreal General Hospital Foundation is focused on providing innovative and accessible giving opportunities for its valued donors.
The following donation opportunities are available to help make vital MGH projects a reality. If you are unsure which method is best for you or if you would like to discuss an alternative method not listed here, please contact a member of our donor services team. Every gift makes an important difference.
Annual Giving:
Annual Giving, which provides the opportunity to donors to make donations to the Foundation on an annual basis, is the cornerstone of our fundraising program. Annual donations support excellence in patient care, teaching and research on an ongoing basis. We are immensely grateful to all our annual donors, many of whom choose to increase their donation amount each year.
Governor Program:
Governors are annual donors who contribute $250 or more per year. We currently have over 3,000 Governors and are well on our way to achieving our goal of 3,500.
Tribute Gifts:
Memorial donations (often made in lieu of flowers) serve as a wonderful tribute to a beloved family member, colleague or friend. These gifts provide tangible benefits to patient services throughout the Hospital. Gifts may also be made in honour of birthdays, anniversaries, special holidays, graduations, employment milestones and other accomplishments, or in appreciation. Certain of our donors have chosen to make special donations in honour of their weddings. It’s our pleasure to provide an appropriate table card for receptions.
Patients and Families:
Many grateful patients and family members express their appreciation for excellent medical care by making a special donation to a Department or Unit of choice.
Estate Planning/Bequests:
Many donors have graciously decided to include the MGH in their will by making either a specific bequest or designating the gift of a percentage of their estate. Your financial advisor can help you make these gifts as tax effective as possible.
Capital Campaign:
The MGH Foundation is a partner in the Best Care for Life $330 million Capital Campaign and welcomes those who wish to contribute to the Redevelopment of the MGH/MUHC.
It should be noted that we welcome the gift of publicly traded securities and life insurance for all types of donations. This method of donation can be attractive from a tax perspective.
