Senior Advisor, Events & Community Engagement

As part of our exciting growth plans, The Montreal General Hospital Foundation (MGHF) is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to fill the role of Senior Advisor, Events & Community Engagement.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Marketing and Communications, the new Senior Advisor will be a key member of the Foundation’s team and will join a dedicated group of energetic professionals working to position the Foundation for future growth and success as a leader in healthcare philanthropy. The new incumbent will be responsible for engaging community in our mission and driving revenue growth through events-related fundraising activities, working with volunteer communities and partners.

With entrepreneurial flair, the Senior Advisor, Events & Community Engagement will seek and create opportunities to bring new ideas and initiatives to life, such as developing a signature marquee event for MGHF, mobilizing and supporting third party events and finding innovative ways to involve and motivate diverse groups including young professionals, hospital staff, donors and volunteer committees to help achieve the Foundation’s events, community engagement and fundraising objectives.



• Manage a variety of fundraising events (online and in-person)
• Manage the relationship with event committee members
• Solicit and maintain relations with sponsors and partners
• Produce the prospection and sponsorship documents for each event
• Oversee all aspects of event projects, including registration, order of proceeding, auctions, venues, promotion, budgeting, etc., in collaboration with internal team and external partners;
• Negotiate agreements and contracts with suppliers and partners
• Identify and secure speakers, special guests, and/or entertainment
• Contribute to communications and promotion pertaining to events
• Explore new ways to engage and identify potential communities and volunteers for third party fundraising initiatives
• Ensure sound financial management of events
• Ensure proper recognition of sponsors, participants and volunteers
• Produce event post-mortem analyses, key learnings and recommendations for development
• Manage processing and tracking of donations for events (online and offline), in accordance with Revenue Canada Tax Guidelines


• Bachelor’s degree or studies in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Approximately 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Experience in fundraising related activities or an equivalent client-focused environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and in French
• Comfortable with online platforms (registration, database, website, social media, Zoom and other auction & streaming platforms)
• Knowledge of principles relevant to major gift fundraising, volunteer committees and stewardship
• Experience with databases and prospect tracking systems (CRM)
• Experience with Raiser’s Edge and Team Raiser would be an asset
• Knowledge of current trends in events and fundraising activities
