Humanizing Care: The Critical Illness Recovery Centre (Dr. David Hornstein)

“It doesn’t end when they leave the ICU and it doesn’t end when they leave the hospital. It’s our duty to provide that support because their recovery depends on it.” – Dr. Hornstein, Director of the Critical Illness Recovery Centre at the Montreal General Hospital (MUHC).

A stay in the ICU can have long-term physical effects, but also cognitive and emotional effects. That’s why the Montreal General Hospital has a critical illness recovery program to help certain patients and their families through difficult and unexpected ordeals.

Our guest is Dr. David Hornstein, Director of the Critical Illness Recovery Centre at the Montreal General Hospital (MUHC). He is trying to bring more humanity to the ICU. This interview was recorded as part of the CODE LiFE campaign, and was hosted and co-produced by Annie DeMelt. Available in French with English subtitles on YouTube.
