2022 McGill IBD Fundraiser Raises $320,000 for IBD Research

Dr. Alain Bitton, Lorne Mayers, Derek Seguin, Jean-Guy Gourdeau, Emily Shore, and Dr. Peter Lakatos.

Cohosted by the McGill IBD Research Group and the Montreal General Hospital Foundation, this comedy event starring Derek Seguin raised funds for patient care at the MUHC IBD Centre at the Montreal General Hospital and the IBD clinics at the Montreal Children’s Hospital and Jewish General Hospital.

Nearly 200 people gathered at Club Soda to support IBD. This effort to improve vital care for those affected by inflammatory bowel disease exceeded its $300,000 goal and raised $120,000 more than last year! A special thank you to our sponsors, especially to the Abrams Family, the Stotland Family, the Pharmacie Michael Assaraf, the Richter Management, the Edgewater Funds, Richard Pilosofn and Stewart Schaefer for their vital support.

These donations will have a tremendous impact. They will enable IBD clinics to provide dedicated teams of IBD nurses, researchers, and mental health professionals, which help to alleviate the gaps in care for the IBD community.

This evening was also an opportunity to recognize the honouree and recipient of the Dr. Ernest Seidman Award for IBD Excellence : Lorne Mayers, President of the McGill IBD Research Group. This award is being granted to him for his numerous years of dedicated volunteerism with the Group and bettering the IBD community.
